A message from Kenneth Bozeman, Au.D., Ph.D. CCC/A on hearing loss

Traditionally, we have thought of hearing loss as effecting the elderly. Many people avoid obtaining a hearing aid because they “don’t want to look old”.

But things have changed. With the “coming of age” of the Baby Boomer, the largest generation in history, there are now more people age 45 to 64 with hearing loss than over 65!

This huge market has driven hearing aid manufacturers to develop and design hearing aids that are smaller, more powerful and easier to use.

Our audiologist, Dr. Ken Bozeman, will talk more about the capabilities of these new aids. Suffice it to say that this is not your father’s hearing aid.

Yet the average patient we see waits seven years after developing a hearing loss to do anything about it. People frequently ask me: “How do I know when I need a hearing aid?”

My answer is: When 3 things occur. When you find yourself saying “what” a lot, turn up the TV, and OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT YOUR HEARING.”

The next step: Come in and have your hearing tested. Determine the degree of loss, and what are the options to get you back in touch.

But the first step: Get a hearing test! No need to wait 7 years.
